Luina, Tasmania; my hometown
Mum and Me
Dad and Me
Always was a sun-baby.
Age 4; just before we went to live in Indonesia; this was taken in Adelaide while may parents did a crash course in Bahasa Indonesia.
Belitung, Indonesia; year 1. We were one of the first expat families on the island, this is what it looked like when we arrived. Looking back, I think my parents were extraordinarily brave.
Belitung, Indonesia; the main shopping street; we'd get a delivery of "western" food once a month; the rest of the shopping was done here. And at the local markets
Belitung, Indonesia; Look towards the far end of this shot, off to the left is the road where my dad would take me practice driving in his work vehicle.
Belitung, Indonesia; the beach; that's me waving.
Belitung, Indonesia; idyllic
Belitung, Indonesia; year 4
Belitung, Indonesia; My Island Home.
Our house in Whyalla, SA. That's my best friend, Andrew.
My horse, Johnny MacLeod. He was a failed pacer; my Tassie family trained racehorses. I lived o/s and interstate, he lived in Tasmania; I didn't see him much, clearly.
Adelaide, SA; This is Spunky. We rescued him from the RSPCA in Whyalla, just a scant couple of hours before he was about to be put down. Yes, he looks a little like Adolf Hitler, but in fact he was great. He travelled to MANY different homes with us. His being run-over was one of the reasons why when I bought a house, I ensured it was in a very quiet street; it's too heart-breaking to lose a family pet that way.
Adelaide, SA; This is Ace. Best Dog Ever! (Yes, named after Ace Frehley).
Melbourne, Australia; my backyard.
My cat, Scritchie; Best!
I have some of the greatest and most thoughtful friends and family; Bexta's birthday cake for me.
Phuket 2006; one of my favoruite places on earth.
Phuket 2011; getting my traditional bamboo tattoo: "To Live Is To Suffer; To Survive Is To Make Meaning Of That Suffering."
...and this is the artist.
Phuket; the Big Buddha; it IS big. Buddhism, of all organised religions, is the one that most resonates with me.
Phuket; how could you not love this?
Phuket; from Small View Point.
The absolute highlight of my trip to Vietnam; dinner with my motor bike taxi guy's family at their home. Vu Phung took me under his wing and organised my entire stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
Despite my Vietnamese friend's protestations before I left that I should grow out my hair and take my piercings out while I was in Vietnam, I didn't once get hassled, nor did I lose an ear, nor were my eyebrow rings ripped out by "heavies".
Tattooed in Vietnam, the work in progress; YinYang (we are none of us ALL good or ALL bad), with a wolf (my Asian birth familiar) and a dragon, (traditional Asian symbol of strength).
My Vietnamese tattoo artist.
My Vietnamese 'hawk brother; he stopped me on the street for a pic.
Singing Hotel California (or was it, You Say It Best?) on a river cruise in Bali 2012.
Sam and I visiting in the Monkey Forest, Ubud.
Hawai'I; secluded beach. I spent a lot of time here... y'know, soul-searching. With Dom's SLR.
MattyB, animal rights campaigner. But will I go to another rally ever...?
Getting my wedding on. Not MY wedding. I was proud and flattered to be "bridesman" in Jade (Dressed to Chill's manager) and Andy's wedding. A really great day.
